A corner shelving unit uses up space efficiently. It is ideal for small rooms or areas which cannot accommodate a normal, rectangular shelving unit. Here is a basic overview of how you should go about hanging such a unit.
Tools and Materials Needed:
- Mounting strips
- Shelving unit
Step 1 - Marking
Decide where you are going to hang the shelving unit. Place it against the wall to get a better idea of how it is going to look like and how it will fit. Then, using a level, mark the points where you will be drilling according to the layout of the mounting strips.
Step 2 - Drilling
Use the drill to make holes in the wall at the points you marked.
Step 3 - Fixing the Mounting Strips
Next, you can fix the mounting strips to the wall by screwing them in place. The size and thickness of the mounting strips will depend on the size of the shelving unit, and the thickness of the wood.
Step 4 - Hanging the Shelving Unit
Now you can slide the shelving unit's attachments through the mounting strips' fasteners. Once these are fastened in place, you have to secure them by fixing them with screws in at least three points. These points can be more numerous if the particular shelving unit is large. For additional security, you may wish to install brackets at the base of the shelving unit.
