How to Hang Fabric on a Canopy Bed How to Hang Fabric on a Canopy Bed

What You'll Need
Step ladder
8 matching rod-pocket style curtain panels measuring approximately 54 inches with tie backs
Screwdriver or a hex wrench
Iron (optional)

A canopy bed is often the focal point of a bedroom. By using bold bedding choices and drapery fabrics, you can transform even the humblest of rooms.

Step 1 - Gather Your Tools, Prepare the Bed Frame

If you want, use an iron to iron your fabric so that it hangs neat and straight. Using a step ladder, locate the rails that are on the inside of the bed frame. Using your screwdriver or hex wrench, remove the rail from the frame.

Step 2 - Hang Your Fabric

Slide your fabric onto the rails of the canopy bed. Arrange the fabric so that it hangs neatly and straight on the rail.

Step 3 - Reassemble the Canopy Bed Rails

Using your hex wrench or screwdriver, reattach the rail to the canopy bed frame

Step 4 - Repeat Steps 1 Through 3 with Remaining Rails

Once you have completed one rail, move on to the next side. Only take down one rail at a time.

Step 5 - Finish Up

Adjust the fabric so that they gather at the 4 corners of the bed. Using the tie backs, tie back the fabric at the half-way point on the canopy bed posts (2 panels per post) into a sweeping pool of fabric. Adjust the gathers at the top to ensure evenness and leave space in the middle of each rod for openness.
