A dual flush conversion kit is a great way to save a lot of water each time you use the bathroom. For the most part, there are at least five flushes of purely water before any solid is flushed. With the dual flush kit you can choose the type of flush that is needed to conserve water. Here are the steps to install the dual flush in your own toilet.
Step 1: Turn off Water
Turn the water supply off to the flush.
Step 2: Drain Water from Basin
Flush the toilet and let the water drain out. Use a sponge to get rid of the rest of the water in the bottom of the tank.
Step 3: Remove Tank from Bowl
Unscrew the water hose to the tank and loosen up the wing nuts that hold the tank to the bowl. Slide the tank off and lay it on its side. Remove the water valve assembly by unscrewing the plastic screw.
Step 4: Install Dual Flush
Place the dual flush assembly in the tank and tighten the screws on the bottom of the tank. Do the same with the valve assembly. Remove the old flush handle and replace with a new one.
Step 5: Place Tank Back on Bowl
Set the tank back onto the bowl and secure with the wing nut screws. Connect the water tubes to the valve assembly. Turn on the water and let the tank fill back up. You are now ready to lift up the handle for liquid and down for solids.
