Using a floor door stop is an ideal way to prevent a handle or any other door hardware from damaging the wall area behind the door. Following this process to install a door stop will help to prevent this problem from occurring.

Step 1 – Location

The first step necessary to install a floor door stop is to locate the area in which it will be placed. As part of this process, determine whether you want to add a floor door stop to the wall or floor. After this, open the door to the position where you want it to stop, making sure there is sufficient clearance between the door and the wall. Mark the position with a pencil.

Step 2 – Drill Hole

Depending on how hard the surface is, you may find it necessary to drill a hole to accommodate the screws. If there is more than one, measure the distance between them and use this to determine where the holes should be drilled.

Step 3 – Installation

With some surfaces, such as wooden skirting, it is possible to use a screwdriver to insert the screw directly into the surface. Hold the floor door stop firmly during this process to prevent the screw from slipping.
