The electric water heater is a type of water heater that is found in many homes. They come in different sizes and can heat many gallons of water to satisfy a family's need for hot water. If you look at the water heater, you will see a drain valve located at the bottom. This drain valve found on many newer water heaters, this type of valve is called a full flow ball valve. The full flow ball valve is a valve that is easy to operate and it aids in the successful quick draining of the hot water heater. Below are a few instructions to follow on installing your new valve.

Step 1 - Turn Off Water

Turn off the water to the hot water heater. You can either turn it off at a valve located before the water heater, or you can turn the water off at the main entrance to the house.

Step 2 - Remove the Old Valve

Use an adjustable wrench to pull off the old valve. If corroded, use a little lubricant in order to loosen the valve enough to fully pull it off.

Step 3 - Attach New Valve

Follow the instructions on the new flow ball valve and attach it to the hot water heater. Add a little Teflon tape to the end of the valve to create a good seal between the valve and the hot water heater. Turn on the water and test.
