It is a durable shield against bugs and mosquitoes that might invade your home whenever you open your door and it can add a touch of class to your property. The importance of having some form of protection against disease carrying mosquitoes and other insects cannot be overemphasized. You do not have to spend a lot on installing a door since, aside from buying the screen door and other materials that you will need for its installation, you do not have to spend money on professional fees since the job can be done by you.

Step 1 - Preparing for the Installation

First, measure the width and height of the door opening where you are planning to install your guardian screen door. If you are replacing an old screen door, remove it from its mounting and set it aside. With the measurements you have taken from your door opening, go to a your local home improvement store that carries guardian screen doors. When choosing from the assortment of designs, get the one that is nearest to the measurement of your door frame.

Step 2 - Making a Work Station

There is a certain amount of work that will be required in installing the new screen door so you should have a pair of sawhorses near the door opening where the screen door will be installed. The standard height of a sawhorse is around 3 feet, which is a comfortable position to work in. This is much more convenient than working on the door on the floor or ground. Position the 2 sawhorses in such a way that the new screen door can be placed flat across them.

Step 3 - Preparing the New Door

If the screen door comes in a box or package, place it across the sawhorses and take out the new door along with all the hardware that comes along with it. Set the hardware aside and make them accessible for later use.

Step 4 - Drilling Screw Holes

With the screen door laying flat across the sawhorses, take the template that comes with the screen door and drill screw holes for a door handle into the door.

Step 5 - Attaching the Door

Lift the screen door into an upright position and hold it against the door opening. Line up the screw holes for the hinge on the screen door and line it up with those on the door frame. While attaching the hinges, make sure that the bottom of the screen door is raised off the floor or ground. If you cannot do it on your own, you may have to ask the help of a family member or friend. While the new screen door is in position, attach the hinges by screwing them into the door frame. Insert a screw on each of the hinges first and check if the hinges are in the right position. If they are, you can continue with installing all of the screws.

Step 6 - Attaching the Hardware

Once the new screen door is securely in place, attach the hardware for the screen door. This includes the chain, door handle and door closer.
