Installing a pocket door pull is easy. A pocket door is a sliding door that disappears when you slide it along its length into a compartment in the wall adjacent to it. Many people use a pocket door when they do not have room to put an actual swinging door. The tools needed and step-by-step guide to install a pocket door pull is listed below.

Step 1 – Secure the Door

Place a couple of wood blocks on both sides of the door and clamp them together.

Step 2 – Position Pocket Door Pull

Position the pocket door pull on the edge of the door backwards and mark the center using a carpenter's pencil.

Step 3 – Mark the Screw Points

Mark the spots for the mounting screws using an awl. Trace the lever outline on the door's edge.

Step 4 – Drill Holes

Drill the mounting screw holes. Put the lever on the door in a sideways position to make cuts for the clearance. Cut out around the hinges also. With the drill paddle bit cut out areas for the lever. Use a piece of electrical tape to mark the depth. After drilling one hole, see if the lever will fit. Continue drilling until the lever fits the inside cavity of the door.

Step 5 – Expanding Cavities

Using a chisel and a hammer, expand the cavities that you need to expand. Mark off the areas that you will cut away. With a utility knife, score the holes. Use the chisel to remove a little bit at a time until the lever plate fits.

Step 6 – Install Lever

Screw the lever in and your door pull will be complete.
