You can easily install your own wall mounted pull up bar at home to save time and avoid repetitive trips to the gym. A wall mounted pull up bar can be purchased from any store and fixed to the wall firmly by drilling holes onto the wall. Follow the simple steps below to complete this project on your own.
Tools and Materials
- Wall mounted pull up bar
- Stud finder
- Mounting bracket
- Measurement tape
Step 1: Locating The Studs
First, decide where you will mount the bar. See to it that the pull up bar purchased is of good quality to avoid injuries. When you decide on a wall, locate two adjacent studs using a stud finder.
Step 2: Marking
Once you have chosen a wall and location, hold the mounting brackets in its location over the structure. Using a pencil, mark the points where the screws are to be inserted.
Step 3: Drilling
Next, drill small holes in the points you marked. These are the points where the screws will be fixed. Drill small pilot holes onto the wall and ensure that it does not damage the strength of the wall. Make sure no cracks are formed during the drilling process.
Step 4: Fixing the Mounting Bracket
Use the screws to fix the entire mounting bracket structure onto the wall. Carefully read all the instructions given with the pull up bar and perform them. You can make use of a hammer or any other tool to secure the screws to the wall.
Step 5: Installing The Pull Up Bar Into The Mounting Bracket
Now, install the pull up bar into the mounting bracket. If the mounting bracket and bar are already attached together, you can skip this step.
Step 6: Testing
Once the entire mounting bracket structure is completely fixed, re-check if all the screws are tightly mounted to the wall and the pull up bar is safe to use. Now try to do a pull up on the bar. The structure should not move when the pull up is performed and there must not be any cracking sound from the equipment or the wall. If this is the case, your bar is ready for you to use.
