An arch window curtain adds a unique decorating charm to a room but the installation of the rod may appear to be a chore you really don't want to tackle. Yet, this type of rod can be easily installed with simple household tools.

Step 1 - Choose Correct Rod

You will need the correct curtain rod for your arch window. This will be determined by a couple of factors. First, the weight of the fabric of your curtain and secondly, the size of the arch. There are several types of arch rods, the most popular is the flexible type. This flexible rod will hold most size curtains, is easy to install and adjust and is available at most hardware and decorating stores.

Step 2 - Measure the Area

The easiest way to measure the length of the rod you will need is to use a piece of string or rope and tape it along the area where the rod will fit. Then take the string down and measure it with a tape measure.

Step 3 - Install the Curtain Rod

Flexible rods come with a bracket for each end of the rod, one for the center and clips that install along the rod to hold the bend in position. These are installed like any curtain rod bracket. Mark on the wall with a pencil where the bracket will go. Then drill a hole and place the bracket over the area and screw in the screws. Do this on both sides and in the middle of the bracket. Install the clips per manufacturer's instructions to hold the curve of the rod.
