How to Install Gutters with Rain Chains

Rain chains are a quick way to dress up the outside of your home and it is fairly easy when you know how to install gutters with rain chains. If you haven’t heard of rain chains, they have been around in Japan for a long time and are gaining popularity in the U.S. They are a series of objects, such as small buckets, baskets, or bells that are connected together and replace your gutter’s downspouts. They are designed to channel water from the gutters to the ground.

Rain Chain Installation

Remove the downspout and insert the expandable gutter attachment that comes with the rain chains into the hole and expand. Attach the rain chain to the bottom of the expandable attachment and connect the other end to the ground with the included V-shaped stake. Check the rain chain with a level to make sure it is straight up and down.

Alternatively, you can direct the water flow from the rain chain into a rain barrel, drain pipe, or even a box planter. Enjoy the new look of your home and be prepared to answer a lot of questions about your new rain chains.
