Leather car seat covers may be a bit expensive but considering the fact that leather can last a long time, this type of material may be a cost effective alternative to other types of materials, including cloth. To install leather car seat covers, follow these easy steps.
Step 1 - Warm the Leather
To make the leather more pliable and easier to install on your car seat, spread the leather on an area where it can be directly hit by sunlight. Leave the leather out in the sun for about 15 to 30 minutes, or until it becomes pliable enough to install in your car.
Step 2 - Remove the Headrest and Armrest
Remove the headrest and the armrest of your car seats, to get the seats ready for the leather covers.
Step 3 - Install the Leather Seat Covers
If you are using fitted leather seat covers, grasp the cover with both hands and push it over the top of the car seat. The leather may be a bit tight, so make sure you press the leather firmly, then pull it to cover the seat.
Step 4 - Fasten the Seat Covers
Pull the Velcro strips located at the bottom of the car seat covers and press them together to fasten the covers.
