Installing replacement patio doors without removing the frame is easy because the hinges are already secured. Thus, you do not have to make the right alignment. You can do it in less than an hour and you only have to use simple tools.

Step 1 - Measuring the Patio Door

Take the measurements of the old patio door and use it for buying the replacement.

Step 2 - Taking Out the Old Door

Take the existing patio door out. If the previous door frame holes align with your new hinges, you can salvage the holes. They will be your guide in the installation of the new hinges.

Step 3 - Filling the Holes

If the old frame holes do not align with your new hinges, fill them out with wood putty. You should then have to drill new holes for the new hinges.

Step 4 - Attaching the Hinges

Get the new door in place and connect the hinges on the bottom, top and center. The hinges that are on the top and bottom should be connected loosely with the door frame.

Step 5 - Adjusting the New Patio Door

To make sure that the new door is evenly hung, use a level. Make the necessary adjustments if necessary and screw in the hinges. Tighten the hinge in the middle and your new patio door can now be used properly.
