How to Install Stabilizer Bars On an RV Trailer How to Install Stabilizer Bars On an RV Trailer
Stabilizer bars are used on RV trailers to keep the ride safe and secure. If you are the owner of a new RV trailer, you will want to consider adding a stabilizer bar to make your ride smoother. Here are a few quick and easy steps that can help to guide you.
Step 1 - Attach Ball
Begin with the sway control ball. The ball can be attached near the hitch ball. Position the sway control ball about 1 1/2 inches forward and 5 1/2 inches outward from the hitch ball. Use a lock washer and nut to tighten the ball up. Make sure that this mounted ball is lined up in the center of the hitch bar.
Step 2 - Install Handle
Use a washer to attach the handle to the body of the car. Then, take a rag and grease to lubricate the threads on the handle.
Step 3 - Install Bar
You want the bar to be parallel to the body of the car and about 4 1/2 inches away. Tighten it and then place the bar coupler onto the ball.
Step 4 - Attach Bracket
To install the bracket you can drill a hole in each corner of the bracket and frame while you are holding it up. Use a hammer to attach the rivet pins into each hole that you drill.
