How to Iron a Brocade How to Iron a Brocade

What You'll Need
Iron
Ironing board
Brocade
Clean, cotton sheet

A brocade can be a very delicate piece of fabric because of its intricate design. To prevent damage, learn how to safely iron a brocade before attempting to do so.

Step 1 – Heat the Iron

For best results, heat the iron before using it. Set to a low permanent press or silk setting, depending on your iron. Make sure the water reservoir is full, as you will need lots of steam in order to get the wrinkles out.

Step 2 – Remove the Brocade

If the brocade is attached to anything, remove it if you can to make ironing easier. If it is not detachable, you can iron the material right where it is.

Step 3 – Use Lots of Steam

Woven fabrics respond well when a lot of steam is used to heat up the fibers and loosen them. Before ironing the brocade, cover it with a thin cotton sheet. Iron the material through the sheet to protect the delicate material from damage.
