How to Locate a Radiator Fan Switch
A radiator fan switch regulates the cooling system of a vehicle. If you are encountering problems with the cooling system of your car, one possibility for it is a broken radiator fan switch. To repair or replace it, you need to know where it is located in the car. You can follow the steps below to find the radiator fan switch, however, it is important to remember that not all cars are designed the same. It is possible that the radiator switch may be located in a different location on some car models.
Step 1 - Put Your Car’s Transmission in Park
You can also engage the parking brake, just to avoid any injury. Open the hood of your car for the inspection. Allow the engine to cool first before starting to inspect the vehicle.
Step 2 - Inspect the Interior Under the Car’s Hood
Check the left area of the engine bay and find the large rounded lower radiator tube which is joined to the base of the radiator. Now look for the metal thermostat casing attached between the lower radiator tube and the top left part of the engine.
Step 3 - Locate the Radiator Fan Switch
Check the thermostat casing for the radiator fan switch located on the side. It is easy to determine as it is shaped like a cylinder and has a two-wire electrical plug. Once you have determined the location of the radiator fan switch, you will be able to easily locate it the next time that you may need to have it repaired or replaced.
