How to Maintain an Aluminum Door Threshold How to Maintain an Aluminum Door Threshold

What You'll Need
Duster
Rag
All-purpose or aluminum-specific cleaner
Toothbrush or sponge

Maintaining your aluminum door threshold is not difficult, but does take effort. Just like any other element in your home, the threshold needs to be cleaned and maintained on a regular schedule. Here are a few materials and steps to help guide you.

Step 1 - Decide When to Clean

Many times you will make a schedule of when to wash sheets or clean the kitchen floor. Deciding when you will clean the aluminum threshold is the same. Pick a day, maybe when you wipe down the doors, to clean. This can be once every 2 weeks for example.

Step 2 - Dust

Use a duster to wipe over the threshold. This will help to keep dust and build-up away and make it much easier to clean and maintain over the years.

Step 3 - Clean

Spray the multipurpose cleaner on the aluminum and use a rag to wipe it. This may only take a few seconds but is important to do. For dirt or grime you may need to use a sponge or tooth brush to get in there.

While it may seem silly, maintaining your thresholds allows them to last much longer. Continuing to dust and clean keeps your entryways looking fresh.
