How to Make a Bow Christmas Tree Topper

Christmas is the time of year that family comes together to share gifts and great food. Decorating for Christmas is always fun, and creating a homemade Christmas tree topper can leave family members impressed by the creativity of the craft makers. This Christmas tree bow is a great craft for parents to make with their kids this Christmas.

Tools and Materials Needed:

  • Large ribbon in desired color
  • Craft glue
  • Gold or silver glitter
  • Scissors
  • Floral wire

Step 1-Design the Ribbon

Decorating the ribbon with glitter helps to add a festive touch to the Christmas tree topper. Red ribbon looks great with silver or gold glitter. A clear glue can be used to hold the glitter in place all over the ribbon. Cut the ribbon to the desired length, keeping in mind that there should be enough ribbon to make four 15 to 18 inch loops.

Step 2-Make a Bow

Loop the ribbon several times, so the edges are round and the loose ends are gathered close to the middle. Use the floral wire to loop around the middle of the bow and create a pinched center. Wrap the wire around several times and leave a loop at the base to fit around the top of the Christmas tree. Tug the loose ends of the the ribbon, so that they hang down at the bottom of the bow. Pull the round edges of the bow so that they become fluffy and stand out.

Step 3-Place the Bow on the Tree

Use the loop of extra floral wire to place the Christmas tree topper at the very top of the tree. Extra ribbon can be used to hold the bow in place, but tightening the floral wire should be enough to hold it firmly on top of the tree.
