How to Make a Concrete Bullnose Trim How to Make a Concrete Bullnose Trim

What You'll Need

When you decide that you want to use a bullnose trim, there are a few things that you will need to keep in mind. The overall process is not difficult and you will find that there are several things that you can do to make the process itself much easier. You will find that a bullnose trim can most often be used with molds or stamps. There are several ways that you will be able to make these stamps or molds, you can purchase premade ones or you can make your own. No matter how you wish to do it, you will find that with these you will be able to decorate around patios, playgrounds and even driveways.

Step 1 – Pick the Mold

You will need to first of course choose the mold or the stamp that you wish to use to create a bullnose trim. There are a few different ones that you will be able to choose from. Be sure that the one that you pick is able to go with the overall décor of your home and outside arrangements. You will find that in addition to the mold and stamps there are dyes and stains available that can really add to the overall look of your concrete.

Step 2 – Mix the Concrete

You will first of course have to decide how much concrete you will need for the job. Once you have done this you will be able to begin to mix it, read the instructions carefully. The bags will also be able to tell you about how much each bag will be able to do for the job, this will help you to be able to figure out how many bags you will need for your entire job. Be sure that you mix the concrete carefully per the directions. It will tell you how much water will be needed and how much stirring will be involved. Once you have done this and have it properly mixed you will be able to prepare to put it into the mold.

Step 3 – Mold Placement

Be sure that the mold is put in the spot that it needs to be before you pour the concrete. Have it set up and ready for whenever you begin to pour the concrete, this will help to make the job go much easier for you.

Step 4 – Pour the Concrete

Once the mold is where it needs to be and the concrete is mixed the way it should you will need to pour it. Once you have done this, be sure that you have laid the concrete out smoothly. Using your trowel, you will need to smooth out the top layer of the concrete to be sure that it is completely even and there are no marks or holes when it has dried. Depending on how big the job is this is usually best when it is done with some help.
