A New Year’s party will not be complete without a luscious dessert to make everyone’s mouth water. Below, you will find a special recipe on how to create a remarkable dessert complete with grand presentation to start the year the sweetest way possible.
Tools and Materials Needed:
- 1 cup chocolate hazelnut spread
- 4 crepes
- 4 sliced bananas
- Garnishes such as fruit slices, edible flowers, wafers, whipped cream, ice cream, chocolate cream sauce, and so on.
- Dessert plate
Step 1 – Make the Dessert
Choose a simple to make recipe online. Apple cream pie, lemon tart, meringue cookies, peanut brittle, fruit crepes, cupcakes, tarts, and ice cream fruit cobblers are just few of the many dessert ideas that you can make in a cinch. For the purpose of setting an example, we’ll use a chocolate hazelnut fruit recipe. To do this dessert, you need to spread ¼ cup of chocolate hazelnut spread on the crepe. Put 1 sliced banana in the middle of the crepe and roll it. Heat a skillet over medium heat on the stove. Let the skillet warm for a few seconds then put the rolled up crepe. Wait until the crepe turns golden brown and crispy. Transfer to a dessert plate.
Step 2 – Decorate with Garnishes
Now here comes the fun part. You can start dressing up the fruit crepe using various garnishes. One of your options would be fruit purees. Purees of raspberry, mango, strawberry or peach can add color and vibrancy to the plain colored crepe. You can also add in sliced or whole fruits like star fruit, pineapple or strawberries. The slices of fruit can be lined up on one side of the plate while a whole fruit can be carved or shaped then placed in the center of the crepe. Chopped nuts such as pistachios are also a good addition to your dessert. You can sprinkle powder like confectioner’s sugar or ground cinnamon around the crepe. Another great idea would be to stick some edible flowers in the middle of the crepe or put some chocolate shavings on top of the crepe.
Step 3 – Consider Factors
When designing a dessert, there are several factors that you need to consider. These include balance, colors, flavors, and shape. Use garnishes that give contrast to the dessert while maintaining balance so that the result won’t look awkward. Strive to have at least 2 to 3 colors on the dessert to make it look appetizing. Red is very attractive so it’s always a good idea to include strawberries, cherries, or apples in the dessert garnish. Shape also plays an important factor in the presentation of a dessert. Create contrasting shapes to make the dessert look more interesting. For example, in this dessert, the crepe is long and rectangular, it would be nice to add a circular garnish such as strawberry slices. As for flavors, you have to ensure that the garnish you put in would complement, not overshadow and most definitely not ruin the overall taste of the dessert.
