Boat mooring covers can be bought ready-made or else you can sew them yourself. The latter option is more worthwhile, both in terms of personalization and money. After all it is not that hard to make a boat mooring cover.

Step 1: Measure the Boat and Determine the Dimensions

Start off by measuring the boat. You then have to decide the best measurements to apply for the boat cover. Do not make the cover too tight as it will not cover the boat well and will end up slipping from one side. On the other hand, do not make it too large either. It is best to have it fit underneath the boat without too much extra material being left unattended.

Step 2: Cut the Material

Next, cut the material according to the dimensions you set. Heavy canvas is usually the best option due to its weathering resistance.

Step 3: Sewing the Cover

Then, you have to fold the sides of the canvas and sew it up to make a sort of pocket. Make this space at least 3 inches wide to allow the rope or drawstring to be inserted easier.

Step 4: Insert the Rope

Insert the rope through the pocket until it comes out at the other end.

Step 5: Cover the Boat

Now you can place the cover over the boat. Then, fold the sides underneath it, and tie up knots with the rope so as to fix it in place.
