How to Make Ceiling Sound Insulation How to Make Ceiling Sound Insulation
Ceiling sound insulation will prevent unwanted noise in a room. Ceiling sounds can produce an echo effect and create an annoying white noise. This white noise problem can be solved by adding insulation to the ceiling. You can access the ceiling through the attic. The attic space will hold the rafters that run from one side of the ceiling to the other. You can install the insulation between the rafters.
Step 1 – Choosing the Insulation
Determine which form of insulation you would like to use for your ceiling noise problem. Rolled and foam insulation are both effective and fairly simple to install. Determine the necessary insulation R value you will need.
Step 2 – Measuring the Area
Use a tape measure to determine the amount ceiling space between the rafters that requires insulation.
Step 3 – Installing the Insulation
Put on your dust mask, protective eye wear, work gloves and work boots before you begin to protect yourself from any toxins in the insulation. Use your utility knife to cut the lengths of insulation you will need. Install the lengths of insulation between the rafters. If necessary, use the knife to cut opening for any ducts, vents or pipes.
