What You'll Need
Walnut Hardwood Flooring Planks
Fine Grade Sandpaper
Walnut Finish

Walnut hardwood flooring is durable and beautiful. If you are using it to cover your floor, the simplest way to lay it is by using precut laminate flooring planks. You will want to match the planks to give an even and flawless finish. Matching the grain up on the planks will do this. This quick guide will show you how.

Step 1 - Select Your Flooring

Before laying the flooring planks select the ones that match nearest in terms of grain and color. It will always be to your advantage to plan which planks to pay in which order.

Step 2 - Laying your Flooring

Lay in the flooring planks making sure they are the right way round and line up accurately. It will help you to get a better finish if you have properly prepared and levelled the floor beforehand.

Step 3 - Sanding the Floor Planks

If you think that any of the grains in the floor planks don't quite match, use fine-grade sandpaper to gently sand the edges of the two floor planks. This will help blend the varied colors in the grain.

Step 4 - Finishing the Floor

Use a walnut finish over the floor planks once you have laid and sanded the floor planks. This is available from most hardware stores and should be applied with a stiff brush.
