How to Measure for Fascia Board Installation How to Measure for Fascia Board Installation
A fascia board is essentially a trimming board around your roof. Not only does it make the exterior of your house look a little more pleasant, but they protect your property from weather damage, as well. Just like the rest of your house, the weather can be harsh to your fascia boards and they may need replacing from time to time. This guide will help you to accurately measure your fascia boards and get them ready for installation. An incorrectly sized fascia board will likely result in water damage to your home.
Step 1 – Recruit Help
The easiest way to measure for a fascia board is to recruit a friend; he or she can hold one end of the tape measure while you hold the other. Pin one end of the tape measure to the first rafter.
Step 2 – Measuring
If you are installing a full fascia board then measure from the first rafter to the last rafter. If you are just installing a section of the fascia board then you will be able to do this yourself by measuring the gap.
Step 3 – Mark the Fascia Board
Transfer these measurements onto the length of fascia board that you have. Use a carpenter's square to ensure the line you will be cutting is straight and the angle of the corner is a perfect ninety degrees.
