How to Mount an Electric Wall Furnace

What You'll Need
10-inch boot
Long screws
Metal anchors

An electric wall furnace works by taking in cool air at the top and throwing the warm air back out from the bottom. Make sure to mount the furnace securely to the base. It is highly important that you know some installation and mounting techniques in order to do this job yourself. If it is not the case, it is a better idea if you call a professional to do the job for you.

Step 1 – Fixing the Top of the Furnace

Remember to clear the area completely before you start mounting the electric furnace. Fix the bottom of the furnace to the wall with 2 metal anchors and two long screws. You need to place the metal anchors on the back flange there is on the furnace top.

Step 2 – Fixing the Bottom of the Furnace

Use the drill to cut 2 holes on the bottom cabinet of the surface. You have to make sure to drill the holes near the edges. Use these holes to fix the cabinet to the floor.

Step 3 – Installing the Rear Outlet of the Furnace

Cut an 8 1/4 by 12 1/4 inch hole into the wall to install the rear outlet. Use the 4 diamond-shaped holes at the bottom cabinet of the furnace in order to mark the outline of the opening by drawing straight lines. Cut out the opening and mount the furnace into the space. Put the plaster ground in the opening and fix the studs with nails.

Place the grille on the hole on the back wall and mark the holes of the grille on the wall. Equip the drill with a 1/8 inch bit and cut 2 holes in the wall and the furnace cabinet. Attach the grille and fasten it firmly with screws. There is no need of the 10-inch boot in this installation.

Step 4 – Surface Mounting the Furnace

Cut another 8 1/4 by 12 1/4 inch hole into the wall and use the 4 diamond-shaped holes to cut out the opening. Put the boot against the furnace cabinet and make sure to place the inside of the boot exactly on the hole. Mark the locations of the screws and take away the boot. Now it is time to cut the holes with a drill and fill them with screws made of sheet metal. Fix the boot to the rear side of the furnace.

After you have attached the boot, put the furnace in place and mark the edge of the boot to be cut off flush against the wall. Move the furnace to cut the boot according to the markings. Place the furnace on the mounting base.

You have to take care of your electric wall furnace so that it will work properly and does not have technical problems. Remove any furniture that is too close to the furnace, about four feet away in front of the furnace and two feet away from the sides. This will increase the air circulation in the room and it will also help the furnace to heat up your home more efficiently.
