Knowing how to move a king-sized mattress is something not everyone knows how to do. After all, you are talking about the largest of all mattresses. Many people do not even own this size mattress, let alone know how to move it. When looking to move something so large, it is best to approach it with the right plan in order to avoid injury.
Step 1 - Get a Friend to Help
You may know how to move a bed by yourself when it is a single bed, but the king-sized bed is a totally different monster. If you try to move the bed on your own, you will most likely hurt yourself. The best way to get started is to move the mattress to the edge of the box springs and drop one end to the ground as you and your friend lift the opposite end of the mattress. Try not to bend the mattress as it will damage the springs. Once you have the mattress up, the box springs will seem like a delight to move. Many king-size beds rest on two twin-sized box springs which are super light.
Step 2 - Choose the Right Moving Truck
In order to move the mattress, you will want to rent at least a 6x12 truck. Using straps will allow you to attach the mattress to the side of the truck and not worry about it falling on anything or anyone during the rest of the move. This will once again keep the springs from being damaged because of a bent mattress.
