How to Negotiate Costs with a Wedding Caterer

Weddings are notoriously expensive, and the cost of a wedding caterer is one of the biggest expenses you will face on the big  day. Paying the cost of a wedding caterer can use up a sizable chunk of your budget, so one solution to the problem of price is to negotiate the charges with your wedding caterer before the wedding day.

Be Prepared

Do some research on how much a wedding caterer service will cost. Look around at other local caterers, or online. Once you have a good grasp of how much a certain service costs, then you will be in a good position to negotiate with your wedding caterer.

Book Off-Season

If you plan to hold your wedding at an unusual time of year (in the winter, for example), ask your caterer if they will consider reducing prices for an off-season booking. Wedding caterers have seasons, like footballers, so they should be glad of the business during off-peak times.

Negotiate Hidden Costs

Your wedding caterer may try and include hidden costs in your contract. These costs are for things such as unopened beverage bottles, linen rental, additional, unwanted staff. Pay attention to every part of the price, and make sure that your wedding caterer is not trying to make you pay for some of their costs.
