A wrought iron railing looks magnificent when painted but not so good when shabby. Perk up your wrought iron railings with a coat of paint.

Step 1 - Cleaning

Use a scraper on the wrought iron railing to remove loose paint. After this, use a wire wheel on a drill to take off the remainder of the paint from the wrought iron railing and remove rust. Having a drop cloth underneath will cut down on cleaning time after you finish.

Step 2 - Primer

When you’re down to the bare metal on the wrought iron railing, apply a primer made for metal. Use a small paintbrush as this will allow you to reach into all the areas on the wrought iron railing. Brush on a thin coat, allow it to dry and then apply a second coat.

Step 3 - Paint

After the primer has dried you’re ready to paint the wrought iron railing. Choose a paint made for metal and once again use a small paintbrush to cover all the areas of the wrought iron. Apply a thin coat of paint and allow it to dry. Once it’s dried you can put on a second coat and give that ample time to dry.
