How to Paint Wooden Floating Wall Shelves

Floating wall shelves are an attractive addition to anyone's home, but when you come to redecorate, you can find that painting them can be a bit of a task. Wooden floating wall shelves need extra work, as you will have to remove them from the wall in order to take off the paint you had previously applied. If you are still determined to have a go at painting your wooden floating wall shelves, you will need some paint stripper, varnish, paint, and a screwdriver.

Painting Your Floating Shelves

The first thing you need to do is to remove everything from the shelves. Place your objects somewhere safe, and then unscrew the shelves from the wall. Once they are down, you should use paint stripper on each shelf, finishing the job by rubbing thoroughly with a piece of sand paper. You may need to repeat this once or twice before the shelf is completely free of the old paint. Then, you can paint the shelf any color you choose. Leave to dry before adding another coat, and then complete by adding a layer of varnish that will help protect the shelf. Once the shelves are completely dry, you can screw them back onto the wall and replace your objects.
