Waterproof car seat covers provide protection for your car seats from pets, kids and other causes of spills and dirt in the vehicle. You should take a few precautions to prevent the seat covers from cracking that will extend the life of your seat covers.
Step 1 - Protect Seat Covers from Sunlight
The number one cause of cracked waterproof car seat covers is extreme heat brought on by sunlight. In order to protect your seat covers, install side car window shades that you draw whenever you park the vehicle. Also, put up your front and rear window shades when parking. You can also increase the life of the seat covers by having visors down as you drive in order to limit the amount of sunlight hitting the seat covers.
Step 2 - Crack Windows When It's Hot
The sun isn't the only culprit that can cause heat in the vehicle. When it's hot out, you should leave the car windows open a crack when you leave the vehicle outdoors to help air circulation cool the vehicle.
Step 3 - Check Your Pockets
Before you sit down on a waterproof seat cover, make sure you don't have any sharp or pointy objects in your pockets, such as pens or pocket knives.
