You can program a universal garage door remote to suit your garage door opener. When purchasing a universal garage door remote, check that it is compatible with your make and model of your garage remote equipment. Most likely they are all compatible, but it best to make sure before purchasing.

Step 1 - Collect Devices to Reprogram

As you are going to be reprogramming your remote devices, have them on hand rather that fetching them one by one. You can use a single universal remove to operate up to five different devices.

Step 2 - Clear the Universal Garage Door Remote Controller

To clear the controller, you first need to locate the Learn button. This button will hold the information about your devices. Press this button for 30 second to clear the existing info off the controller.

Step 3 – Program the Remotes

Each remote requires to be programmed separately. This you do by holding one remote at a time up close to the controller “Learn” button and Press down on the remote holding it in an “on” position until it makes a click sound. The remote is now programmed. Repeat this process for all your remotes.

It is advisable for security reasons never to leave your remote in your car if you are getting it repaired or serviced. Should you fail to remove it while it was accessible to outside people, you should immediately take steps to reprogram your remotes. It’s far better to be safe than sorry.
