Your liquor cabinet can suffer a few dings and scratches from glass bottles and glasses. It is easy to give it a fresh, new look by refinishing it. You'll just need to gather a few supplies to get started.
- Drop cloth
- Tack cloth
- Stain or paint
- Clear coat
Step 1 - Remove Old Finish
Place your liquor cabinet on a drop cloth in an area that will allow you plenty of room to work. You'll need to remove the old finish. If you are staining your cabinet, you will need to sand off all of the finish that is on your cabinet now, be it stain or paint. If you are going to paint the liquor cabinet, you will just need to sand it to get a smooth surface. After you have finish sanding, clean it with a tack cloth to remove all of the debris. You'll then be ready to stain or paint your piece.
Step 2 - Apply New Finish
Using your paintbrush, apply your new finish using even sweeping strokes. Allow it to dry completely, then follow with clear coat for shine and protection. You may add a second coat of clear coat for extra protection if your cabinet sees a lot of use.
