How to Remove Adhesive Residue from Wood
The process of maintaining wood furniture requires some expertise, including how to remove adhesive residue. Undertaking the process properly will enable you to remove the residue without affecting the wood beneath.
Step 1 - Inspect
Start by examining the furniture to identify all the points from which you need to remove adhesive. Make sure that this examination includes the underside of the wood. Check the severity of the problem to decide what removal method to use.
Step 2 - Scrape
Where there is a significant amount of residue, remove the excess with a scraper or an old credit card. Make sure this is done gently to prevent damage to the surface of the wood.
Step 3 - Clean
To remove the remaining adhesive residue, you should dampen a cloth with a small amount of oil. The oil should only be applied directly to the wood if it has been varnished. Rub the wood with the cloth, keeping an eye on the wood to check your progress.
Step 4 - Finish
After you have removed the adhesive residue, wipe the wood with a clean cloth.
