How to Remove Grease Stains from Brass
If there are any brass products or fixtures in your home that have fallen victim to fingerprints or grease stains, you may be looking for an effective way to clean them. With a little lemon juice and a few other household items, you can easily lay waste to any brass-based grease stains.
Step 1 - Prep the Brass
Before cleaning off any grease stains, you will need to remove all the dust and light debris from your brass fixture. Start this step by lightly dampening a nonabrasive washcloth in warm water. Next, proceed to wipe down the brass fixture using gently, circular motions. This will help prevent further smudging and ultimately make the grease removal process easier.
Step 2 - Apply Your Lemon Juice
Now that you've prepared your brass, it's time to remove the grease stains. Begin this process by using lemon juice to dampen an expendable toothbrush or a nonabrasive washcloth, then proceed to scrub the grease-stained area(s) in a back-and-forth fashion. Continue scrubbing until the stains have disappeared completely.
Finally, use a water-dampened cloth to wipe off your lemon juice. To prevent further grease stains, make sure your hands are clean whenever you handle brass.
