People often polish the granite to make the surface shine and look new. Although granite is hard and durable, it is prone to getting mold in wet conditions. Thus, it must be frequently cleaned. Soap scum and mold can cause the stone to become dull and dirty.

Step 1:  Make the Hydrogen Peroxide Mixture

First, create a mixture of hydrogen peroxide and water, 1:2. The mixture should be poured into a spray bottle. Before using the spray, be sure to shake it for 5 minutes.

Step 1:  Brush off the Mold from the Granite

Next, use a soft bristled brush to scrape the mold from the granite surface. Once the mold is scraped from the surface, use warm water to rinse the mold away. The mold should be thrown into the dustbin as soon as possible.

Step 3: Use a Towel to Soak in the Mixture

After the mold is removed from the surface, soak the towel in the mixture. If it is a small molded area, you can use a small towel. If the mold covers a large area, a large towel should be used. To saturate the mold, pour a small amount of the hydrogen peroxide water onto the molded area. After that, place the towel soaked with the mixture on the molded area. The towel should remain on the molded area for approximately 25 minutes.

Step 4: Clean the Towel and Brush

After 25 minutes, remove the towel and rinse the area with warm water and wipe it down. To make sure the spores are not attached to the bristles, the brush must be washed thoroughly. After washing the brush, soak it in the hydrogen peroxide water for 30 minutes. The towel must also be washed thoroughly.

Step 5: Bleach and Vinegar

The solution of bleach and water is suitable for getting rid of mold from granite floors. Try the solution in a not so noticeable place, in case it bleaches the color of the granite. The chlorine has a strong smell so you will want to open the windows to make sure that the room is not stuffy.  Bleach solution is not suitable for natural granite because it can cause the color on the granite to fade. White vinegar is one of the most common ways used to get rid of mold. Although it has a strong smell, it can to get rid of the mold from the granite showers instantly. One of the benefits of using vinegar is that it is organic and harmless to the skin. To use it, fill a spray bottle to spray on the molded granite shower to get rid of the mold.

To prevent the scum and mildew from building up, quickly clear all the water on the showers’ walls and floors. This should be done every time you use the shower. Non acidic cleansers can be used to remove soap scum from granite since acidic cleansers can wear away the stone surface over time. The soap scum remover should be diluted on a soft cloth according to the instructions and wiped onto the molded area.
