How to Remove Yellow Stains on Vinyl Flooring How to Remove Yellow Stains on Vinyl Flooring

What You'll Need
Soap
Household bleach
Rug
Brush

Yellow stains on vinyl flooring result from common items found around homes such as foods, mould, rust, polish or paint. This is one of the easiest surfaces to clean as clean soapy water and a mop does the trick. It is important to wipe or clean vinyl floors as soon as the stain occurs.

Step 1 - Remove Tough Stains

In case yellow stains won’t come off even after mopping with soapy water and clean clothe, there are suitable materials that can be used. These include chemicals such as household bleach, isopropyl alcohol and oxalic acid.  They dissolve stubborn stains without causing harm to the flooring surface.

Procedure

These chemicals can be bought from household stores. Wear protective working gloves when using chemicals at home. Dissolve small quantities of household bleach, isopropyl alcohol, or oxalic acid into two cups of water. Be sure to test the chemical on a small piece of the vinyl floor.

Use clean cloth to apply the solution on the stain. This can be left overnight or for a few hours for it to have maximum effect.

Tips

  • Keep household chemicals out of reach for children
  • Some household chemicals are flammable, turn of gas supply when working on the stain
  • Use safe methods to dispose off rags or clothes used for cleaning the surface.
