How to Repair an Angle Stop Leak

What You'll Need
Valve internal seal
Emery cloth
Teflon thread tape

A leaking angle stop valve can cause a lot of damage to your home so before things get really messy, you better repair the valve. To repair leaking angle stop valve, here is what you should do:

Step 1 – Turn off the Water Supply

Before you attempt to repair leaks on your angle stop valve, be sure to cut the water supply to your sink first. After cutting the water supply, place a bucket underneath your shut off valve to catch the remaining water before you remove the valve.

Step 2 – Remove the Valve

To remove the angle stop valve, use an adjustable wrench to loosen the hex nut that is holding the valve in place. Once the hex nut is loose enough, pull the valve out and remove it completely.

Step 3 – Clean and Replace Seal

Clean off corrosion and mineral build up from the valve then replace the inner seal.

Step 4 – Replace the Valve

To replace the valve, push the hex nut of the valve back into the waterline then slide the compression ring in. Wrap the area with Teflon tape before you slip the shut off valve into waterline.

Step 5 – Tighten the Hex Nut

Use a wrench to tighten the hex nut and seal off the valve.
