How to Repair an Egress Window Well Masonry Wall How to Repair an Egress Window Well Masonry Wall

What You'll Need
Shovel
Drill
Plaster
Plaster Trowel
Wheelbarrow

Repairing an egress window well masonry wall can be a time consuming task that will take some effort. However, despite the work required to do it right, the task itself is not difficult.

Step 1 - Dig Around the Window Well

Even though you are not repairing the window well itself you still need to dig around the galvanized steel well so that it can be removed and you can get to the masonry wall. You have to dig all the way down to the base of the steel window well and around both sides so that you can get to the screws that hold the window well to the house. Put the dirt you remove into a wheelbarrow or to the side on a sheet of plastic. Keep the dirt because you will be replacing it.

Step 2 - Remove the Window Well

Use the drill and remove the screws holding the window well to the house. Remove the window well and set it aside.

Step 3 - Repair the Masonry Wall

Use the plaster trowel to spread the plaster on the areas that need repair on the masonry wall. Wait for the plaster to dry before you replace the window well. Make sure the screws are firmly back in place, securing the window well to the house, then replace the dirt and you are done.
