Though floating cork flooring can be a decorative and environmentally friendly way to cover the floor, this doesn’t mean that it is not prone to damage. Follow the steps to learn how to return the floor to its original condition.
Step 1 – Search and Test
Locate each instance of damage to the floating cork flooring so that you are aware of the quantity of repair material needed. Test the wood filler on an inconspicuous section of the cork floor to ensure the color and consistency are a good match.
Step 2 – Apply Wood Putty
Apply the wood putty to every defect in the floating cork flooring with the tip of a putty knife, building it up until the recess is completely filled. Work on each damaged area fully before moving on to the next spot.
Step 3 – Finishing Work
Gently draw the blade of a scraper over the repaired section of the floating cork flooring to remove any excess. Allow the wood filler to dry thoroughly before sanding it smooth and wiping away the resultant particles. Apply sealant if it has been used on the remainder of the floor.
