Most types of boat shrink wrap materials are strong and durable materials that can last through the winter months. However, when you transport your boat from one place to another, there is a possibility that the shrink wrap will tear and expose your boat to the elements. Since it is costly and time consuming to remove the broken wrap and replace it with a new one, your best option is to simply repair the torn portion of the wrap. To repair torn boat shrink wrap, follow these steps.

Step 1 - Checking the Wrap for Breaks and Holes

Before you put your boat away for the winter, check the shrink wrapping carefully for breaks and holes. Start inspecting the wrapping from the bow area, and work your way down to the underside of the boat.

Step 2 - Patching the Holes and Breaks

To patch the holes and breaks in the boat wrap, stick a piece of heavy duty adhesive tape on the damaged area. Make sure that the adhesive covers the holes or breaks and their surrounding areas.

Step 3 - Installing the Vents

To protect your boat from mold and mildew, install self adhesive vents in strategic locations on the boat.
