A spring clip is a self-retaining tool that can be mounted or attached to the furnace blower. This type of clip is held in place by spring tension, so there is no need to use screws, bolts or studs to hold it in place. Most types of spring clips are very durable, and they are highly tolerant to vibration, making them suitable to use in areas like the furnace blower wheel. However, like most types of tools, the spring clip may break down, so you need to replace it with a new one. To replace a broken spring clip, here is what you need to do.
Step 1 – Remove the Old Spring Clip
To remove the old metal spring clip, you need to press the spring that is holding it in place. If the spring is rusty and will not budge when you press it, you may apply lubricant to loosen the corrosion. Once the corrosion loosens up, the spring will regain its flexibility and it will be easy for you to remove the clip.
Step 2 – Install the New Spring Clip
To install the new spring clip, simply slip the “hips” of the spring clip into the component holes.
