How to Replace a Bullnose Trim Router Bit How to Replace a Bullnose Trim Router Bit
Even the most durable bullnose trim router bits turn dull and worn out after sometime so you need to change your router bits every now and then. To replace the router bits in your bullnose trim, here is what you should do.
Step 1 – Remove the Bits from the Collet
The router bits are held inside the collet or sleeves located near the tip of the bullnose trim. To remove the router bits from the collet or the sleeves holding it, take out the bolt that is holding the collet in place. After removing the bolt, open the collet and check the router bits for damages. Router bits that look dull and have dents or tear in some places should be replaced with new ones.
Step 2 – Clean up the Collet
After removing the router bits, put some oven cleaner in the collet then use an old toothbrush to remove debris and tar build up inside it. Do not use soap and water to clean up the collet.
Step 3 – Replace the Bullnose Trim Router Bit
After cleaning up the collet, put the new bullnose trim router bit inside it. Once the router bits are securely placed inside the collet, replace the bolts.
