When replacing a fireboard panel, you will need to make sure that you know what you are doing. Fireboard panel is a type of panel that burns much slower. You will find that it is great to have near your fireplace or your furnace. Replacement of this particular type of panel is an easy process that anyone can do with the right amount of knowledge and the proper tools.
Step 1: Prepare the Area
It is a good idea to clear out the room that you are in so that you will have plenty of space to work. It can be a messy job so you will want to make sure that you have protection over your floors and furniture. To keep the mess at a minimum it is a good idea to get your fireplace cleaned prior to starting this job. You will find that soot is something that can be very difficult to clean up after. Before you begin, get all of your tools and materials needed ready so that you will not have to go looking for anything in the middle of your project.
Step 2 – Remove Old Paneling
Once you have the area ready you will simply need to remove the old fireboard paneling. In order to do this you will get your screwdriver out on the screws holding the paneling in place. Once you have loosened them you will be able to remove the paneling with a gentle tug.
Step 3: Install New Paneling
Once you have removed the old paneling it is time to install the new. Level up the new paneling in the same position that your old paneling was in. It is important that you have the new paneling centered. Once you have the new panels set up properly you will begin to screw them into place. It is usually a good idea to invite a friend over to help you hold up the paneling as it can be difficult to do on your own. Take special care in making sure that the screws are in properly and tight.
Step 4: Clean Up
Once you are finished screwing in the new paneling you will need to check over everything once more to make sure it is all installed properly. Once you have done this it is time to clean up your area. Take special care in cleaning up any soot or dust that may now be covering the room. You will need to get out your shop vac to clean up the area before you move any of your furniture back into the room. Properly dispose of the old paneling and also take care in noticing if there are any screws lying around. Get the area cleaned up properly before you move on to your next project.
