How to Replace a Tabletop Fountain Pump How to Replace a Tabletop Fountain Pump

What You'll Need
Fountain pump
5/8-inch plastic tubing
Chlorine bleach
Small scrub brush
Latex gloves
Scissors

Has your tabletop fountain pump quit working? Do not despair. Replacing that broken pump is a piece of cake. Follow these simple steps, and soon you will be listening to the sweet sound of flowing water once again.

Step 1: Dismantle Fountain

Using gloves to protect your hands, dismantle your fountain. Remove all decorative stones, plants and accessories. Remove the pump and empty the fountain.

Step 2: Clean Fountain

Take this opportunity, with the fountain dismantled, to clean all the fountain components. Use chlorine bleach to clean the container and rocks. Mix a solution of 1 part bleach and 9 parts water. Pour half of the solution into the fountain container and use the small scrub brush to clean the container. Use the other half of the bleach solution to soak the rocks. Scrub them if necessary.

Step 3: Install New Pump

Place the new pump into the container. Using scissors, cut the new tubing to the exact length of the old tubing, and attach the new tubing to the new pump. Reassemble your fountain according to the previous design, or create a completely new design for your fountain.

Now that you have installed your new tabletop fountain pump, sit back and enjoy your fountain’s relaxing sound.
