If you use welding goggles on a regular basis, then you may need to replace the goggle lens occasionally. These can get very dirty, and may also become too scratched to use, so knowing how to fit a new lens is a vital tool in the welder's armory. If you have never replaced a lens before, then you may be unsure how to manage it without breaking the goggles completely, but by following a few hints and tips, you should manage to replace the lens on your welding goggles easily.
Step 1 - Check the Goggles
Before you begin trying to replace the lens, you will need to know if your particular goggles allow the lenses to be changed. If not, you will have to throw away the old pair, and get some new ones. Look for a small screw along the side of the goggles. If this is not there, you will need to buy new goggles.
Step 2 - Removing the Old Goggles
Once you have a pair of replaceable goggles, use your screwdriver to unscrew the sides of the goggles. The top part of the glasses should now fall away, leaving the lenses exposed. You may have to pry the top off, but once this is done, you can remove the lenses and replace them with new ones.
