How to Replace Scroll Saw Blades How to Replace Scroll Saw Blades

What You'll Need
Screwdriver
Allen Key
Replacement Blades

The scroll saw is a very popular woodworking tool, and has a number of scroll saw blades which are used to create a variety of different cuts. If one of the blades breaks, then it is not possible to use one of the others, and the blade will have to be replaced. Putting a new blade onto a scroll saw is easily done.

Step 1 - Remove the Old Blades

Ensure that the scroll saw is turned off at the mains, and then remove the plug. This prevents electric shock. Using your screwdriver, remove the screw that is on the front-middle of the saw. This will hold two blades. There are others at the top and the side which can also be removed. You may want to loosen the screw with the Allen key in order to ensure that you don't take the screw completely out of the machine. Take the blade out of the scroll saw.

Step 2 - Add the New Blade

Take the replacement blade and find the two holes located at the top of the machine. Push the new blade into position until you feel a small popping movement. Turn the screw using the Allen key, and then tighten it using the screwdriver. Test the blade to ensure it is in the right place.
