How to Replace Slats in Wood Vertical Blinds How to Replace Slats in Wood Vertical Blinds

What You'll Need
Needle Nose Pliers
Nylon Pins
Replacement Slats
Wood Glue

Repairing wood vertical blinds is a relatively simple project. You will require replacement slats if one or more are damaged but the reparation is a quick job. Most wood vertical blinds have a similar design.

Step 1 – Removing the Pins

Many wooden vertical blinds will have nylon pins which hold them in place. Remove the old slat by pulling out the nylon pins with the needle-nosed pliers. You may find that you will need to glue the new pins into position.

Step 2 – Taking out the Old Slats

Once the nylon pins have been removed the slat should slide away from the fixings and leave a gap.

Step 3 – Replacing with the New

Take the wood glue and place a small amount into the nylon pin hole. Slip the nylon pin into the hole and press firmly into place. Wipe any excess glue off with a damp cloth. Leave the glue to dry for around 30 minutes and clip the wooden slat into place. Remember that styles will vary so make sure you use the correct method for your particular style of blind.
