How to Restore Faded Vinyl Window Shutters
Vinyl window shutters are one of the most durable window shutters that you can use for your windows at home. Vinyl window shutters come in different colors and styles and are widely used by many homeowners due to its ease of maintenance and high aesthetic value. However, with the passing of time, vinyl window shutters eventually fade and need to be restored.
Step 1-Clean the Vinyl Shutters
Using a scrub brush, clean your vinyl shutters thoroughly. Dip the stiff brush into the soap and warm water solution and brush the dirt off the vinyl shutters. If you have a power washer, you can use it to clean and rinse the vinyl shutters. Allow the vinyl shutter to dry completely before proceeding to the next step.
Step 2-Use a De-oxidizer
Purchase a de-oxidizer spray can at your local hardware store. Spray an even coat of deoxidizer on the vinyl shutters. Make sure not to miss any spots on your vinyl shutter when applying the deoxidizer. Make sure that the deoxidizer is dry before going to the next step.
Step 3-Apply Paint Primer & Paint
Apply a single, thin coating of paint primer on your vinyl shutter. After the paint primer is completely dry, apply the paint on the vinyl shutter using a paint brush. Add additional coats of paint until you have achieved your desired result. Make sure to allow the previous coat of paint to dry before applying additional coating.
