How to Seal Grout for a Glass Tile Backsplash

A glass tile backsplash can add a pretty addition to any room. In order to create your mosaic work of art, you will need to know how to grout glass tile the proper way. Below is a quick step-by step on getting this done.

Step 1 - Lay the Tile and Finish the Grout

Before you can seal your pretty tile backsplash, you need to lay out the tile and grout it. Remember to remove the excess grout and clean the glass tiles with glass cleaner when complete.

Step 2 - Understand Why to Seal

Now that you have finished laying out your work of art, you need to seal the grout. This is a very important step because it helps to keep the water from lifting the tiles, it helps to reduce the potential for mildew and mold, and it keeps the grout clean and free from dirt and grime.

Step 3 - Pick the Sealer

Two types of sealer for grout exist. There is penetrating sealer and membrane forming sealer. If you are looking to keep the same color of your grout and avoid discoloration, then use a penetrating sealer. A membrane forming sealer may change the color of your grout.
