How to Seal Marmoleum Floors

Marmoleum floors are sturdy and may be recommended in areas with high traffic. Marmoleum is a material that is manufactured using natural ingredients such as linseed oil and wood and the marmoleum floors are easy to install, clean and maintain. For maximum durability, you will need to seal your marmoleum floors.

You Will Need:

  • Broom
  • Mop
  • Floor detergent
  • Sealant (caulk)
  • Caulk gun
  • Putty knife

Step 1 – Clean the Floors

Before you start sealing the floors, remove dust and dirt using a broom and then wash the floors with a mop dipped in warm water and detergent. Allow the floors to dry.

Step 2 – Prepare the Sealant

Use caulk and prepare the caulk gun. You may squeeze and test it in a corner of the room to get accustomed to using the gun.

Step 3 – Apply the Caulk

Start applying the caulk in one corner. Apply caulk all around the room and make sure the caulk touches both on the floors and the baseboard.

Using a putty knife, insert the caulk in the joints between the floors and the baseboard.

Allow the caulk to dry before you clean or wash the floors.
