If you need to hang something from a tile surface, then you need to use an anchor screw. Without such an anchor, the tile can crack or break under the weight. With the anchor screw in place, the weight is dispersed properly with the anchor holding the burden.

Step 1 - Prepare the Area

Choose where you want the anchor screw. Put 2 pieces of masking tape over the area forming an "X". The center of the "X" is where the anchor screw will be placed.

Step 2 - Drill the Pilot Hole

Use a tile drill bit and aim it at the center of the “X”. Use a drill bit that's slightly smaller than the screw. Apply even pressure to make the hole.

Step 3 - Installing the Anchor Screw

The anchor screw should be the same size as the screw you will be using. A smaller or larger anchor screw will simply cause the screw to either break the tile or fall from the anchor. Place the anchor screw in the pilot hole. Use the screwdriver to insert the anchor screw.
